There's been loads of immigrants from Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and other Middle Eastern countries in Denmark since the 60's or 70's. Lot's of bigoted attitudes still going their way in 2018, at least if you look for it. "Perker" is the go-to slur, but there are others. No, not a lot of black people in most North European countries, but plenty of immigrants with colored skin that people can treat like lesser humans.
But things are going in the right direction. Young people make me feel hopeful when it comes to the future of racism in Denmark.

That's a few decades of immigration verses a few centuries of absolutely brutal oppression that dwarfs the Nazis. We've been hazed to the point that we can't even take it but it still gets through and forces us to deal with racial issues so intense that we can't help but make leaps at times. If there's a country where race could become a non-issue then I honestly think it could be America. It's just such an issue that seeing the light at the end of the tunnel feels like a betrayal of what we're even feeling at the moment.
