Just put dubs in some old, comfortable running shoes (dubs are smal metal spikes for walking in icy areas).
If you live in Europe (or even now in the US..at least I heard they have started opening up in the DC area), go to LIDL for some decent, cheap winter running gear. They usually start advertising around October/November. I have never had a problem with their products and you can shop at the same time. Just get a thermal, sweat wicking long sleeved shirt, a thin running jacket, and some good thermal, sweat wicking pants. Also some good running socks (long for the winter).
If you live in a place that gets really dark in the mornings/night (here we only have sunlight from about 9-1400 during December), get some good reflectors and a headlamp if needed.
Just go out and have fun.
