Just take this track from The System Has Failed. An album of mostly bland thrash with moments of goodness but only one absolute belter of a pop metal song that could have come from Cryptic Writings and is probably Megadeth's best song of the entire new millenium. Dave Mustaine can be a stellar pop songwriter when he wants to be.
