I usually lean City but I replayed Asylum for 100% recently and loved every god damn second
Origins and Knight are both wonderful as well but I think they're distinctly below the first two

Arkham Asylum is a top 5 Metroidvania game while City sacrifices purity and pacing for an open world cause they're the thing now. Also a top 5 game but Asylum has such a well-paced, almost and at times horror vibe. I love the Crock sequence. Freaked the **** out of me and was cool as hell. But the Scarecrow sequences were wild.
But I come back to City more tbh just cause there's more stuff to do, and there's backtracking in both games but City's backtracking is fighting your way through peons. That is consistently fun. Every time I finish a sequence I have to clear the entire map. Just gotta. Although absolutely nothing in either game is as cool as the Botanical Gardens in Asylum and then the plants taking over the island. Poison Ivy rocks the Lovecraft.
