Just finished watching the Pryde of the X-Men pilot that never made it to a full series from the late 80s for the first time in years and while it would have been a terrible version compared to the 90s cartoon it still would have been a delightful 80s cartoon the same as Thundercats or GI Joe but quite possibly better. Whether it would have evolved into a truly better show with more than one episode is debatable but I think it might have surprised people. Might have. At the very least the Dazzler would have been a main character and that's highly amusing.
I'd say it actually had better animation than the 90s show tbh, just not as good art direction.
The one X-Factor is that Jean Grey wasn't involved and I'm curious if that's evidence that the writers secretly had greatness up their sleeves by using the Phoenix Saga as a plot point that had already happened and using it to add drama to the show after the fact.
Whatever the case it's a fun X-Men curio and that Spider-Man bit at the beginning telling all the underaged kids to vote is fantastic.
