A nice article. I wonder how it would have been written if, via different medical means, people can literally turn back the clock on their cells and go back to whatever age they want? Billions are being invested in those studies right now and a few procedures have reached the point where they are beginning human trials already.
I remember a long time ago getting into some discussion with a roommate about the Elves from Tolkien's universe and how their own conception of time and happiness was touched upon on a few occasions in The Silmarillion and the trilogy itself because they pretty much live forever (all other factors held equal). He thought they'd have been a lot happier in a more modern society than Middle-Earth, but then they'd never leave their houses.
