Again, I'm not in any way familiar enough with country music to make judgements, but I've found a lot I liked (and a lot I was surprised I liked). What really sucks though is the modern notion held among some bands or artists that all you have to do to be a country singer is wear a cowboy hat and hire some guy to play pedal steel. Bro Country! Ugh! And most of Country Pop/Pop Country really turns me off. I like the older, more traditional styles. Bluegrass is the ****, and a fiddle and a banjo just light up any country song. But it is one of the few genres that is, and should really remain, exclusively American, so when other countries try it it can be bloody awful. Never, EVER, under ANY circumstances listen to Irish Country! You have been warned.

Oh yeah, the God Squad mentality in most of it sucks, too. God ain't real, people. Stop writing songs about him/praising him/thanking him/blaming him.
