^ Ditto, haven't thought of this album -or track- for years. In fact I forgot that there was a bit of bagpipe in it. Good call. Of course the bagpipes are traditionally associated with battle, either leading the poor troops in or mourning their subsequent death. Here's a battle track by Joe Strummer, so turn it up loud, get a handkerchief out and let this one really kick your ass:-

It's ok grammatically, but I never thought I'd use the expression "jazzy bagpipe noodling" so thanks for grindy's rec demonstrating that such a thing exists.

On a more sedate note, Ommadawn has a section in which the bagpipes are the lead instrument. Two mins in, the bagpipes really bring this part of the album to life:-
