Grim Dawn

I'd like to preface this by saying that I can't for the life of me remember if I've talked about this game in this thread yet, but later is better than never, unless I have talked about it. In any case, Grim Dawn is great.

Prior to getting my new PC, I was actually unable to even start Grim Dawn. My old PC couldn't handle anything about it for some reason so I got a refund on the game and it sat in the distance for a while. Then I went ahead and bought it again and alas! I was able to play it. And what an experience it has been.

It's basically your typical Path of Exile / Diablo III style game, and what I think I love about it most is the graphics style. It's very reminiscent of Path of Exile in the way that the graphics don't see bubbly or super polished. A game like Diablo III sets the standard for that in my opinion. The other thing that's cool about it is the way the map progresses. Again, it works in a lot of the same ways as Path of Exile where each mission you do, it gradually brings you up the map further and further. So far I've gotten through a pretty good number of missions and i'm still near-ish the starting area. Which is good for me because I like a game that I can spend a lot of time on. The combat of course feels very polished as they always seem to do in these style of games. The perk system and leveling system is really neat as well. I'll post a picture since it's easier to explain in an image than in words:

You can choose from a variety of different classes, and from what I can tell, you can mix certain classes together to fit your build. I'm currently running a soldier with a nightblade and going full tank. Every time you level up, you can the chance to level your physique, cunning, and spirit. I've been focusing on physique because again, I'm running a full tank build. The cool thing about my build so far is that I'm already fighting bosses and enemies at least 4 levels above me, and I'm beating them down no problem. It's so much fun to see the enemies get launched sometimes too. Gives impact.

As far as I can tell, Grim Dawn should definitely be considered when you're looking for more Diablo III / Path of Exile style games. The number of these games is continuously growing, and each one has its unique twist which always brings life back to the genre. I'm excited to see how this genre evolves, especially when it's allowed for games like Divinity Original Sin 2 to exist.
