Not true. There were artist and bands from 60s that resurfaced in the 80s after a long dry spell in the 70s. There were also 70s bands that were considered underground, or only played only AOR, that began to break the charts in the 80s. The Boss in one of them. He was mostly AOR.

New Wave started in the late 70s and had a pretty good run through the 80s. I noticed quite a few people who associate New Wave with the 80s more so than the 70s.

John Lennon was known to sneer at his fans in the early years. Maybe it was his way of coping with adulation he didn't know how to handle, or rejecting the superficiality of stranger doting him. But anyway he had a quite the reputation for sneering - that's before Brian met the band cleaned them all up.
You can find sneering all over the place. Erudites sneered at traditional Folk music. The Southern establishment sneered at Elvis and his fan. Elvis fans sneered at Beatles and their fans. Beatle fans sneered at Rolling Stones fans. The city of Boston sneered at the Stones. Big time sneer. They were banned from the city.
Even on this site you can find seasoned Jazzbos sneering at the uninitiated pedestrian Jazz listener. You find those with mainstream taste sneer at those who are into obscure music. I've seen Proggers on this site sneer at indie fans. (I don't do that since I am both a fan of Prog and Alternative.) It really never dawned on me till now, but I would think Music Banter is some kind of hot bed of sneering.
Look at yourself. The premise of this whole thread is to sneer at Grunge - a genre which you yourself claim as being dead. You are basically sneering at a dead genre, which is like basically beating a dead horse.

I didn't act dumb in front of my uncles. If you did, than that's your fault. I kept my ears opened to what they had to say. I absolutely appreciated everything they taught me.
