I've said it before: take Jesus out of the lyrics of some CCM and you could be listening to pop, AOR, Adult Contemporary or even soft rock at times. Laugh at them all you want (and you will, as do I, to an extent) but these people have talent. Some of these songs are better written than a lot of the chart fare, and you have to admire their dedication to and enthusiasm for their subject. Of course, if you hate all of the above styles, then there's nothing here for you, and you can choose to laugh at the music here, but I choose to afford them the credit I think they deserve. Tune out the messages from the Church and it's music you can, if you want to, enjoy on its own merits.

Yeah, there are some good songs here: “So Will I”, “Glimmer in the Dust”, the title track, “Life”. Sure, it's all cloyingly sentimental, but if you can get past the self-satisfied sense of being God's chosen singing for His glory, there's a lot to enjoy here. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm supposed to be officiating at a Black Mass, and I'm already late. You know how acolytes get.
