Don't shoot me if I'm wrong here, but aren't Danzig renowned for faster, thrashier metal than this? This sounds almost like a cross between Doom and Pagan Metal as it opens on the title track. I mean, it's good – and I haven't listened to many Danzig albums – but this comes across as something of a surprise to me. We'll see how it goes, of course. I've got to say I really don't like his voice here – it's like listening to a cross between Morrison and Cave, and most of the time it seems very, I don't know: raw? Like it's either badly produced or he's making sure his voice is well above the music. I don't particularly like the songs either, and I can't see any of them as standing out. Bit of a disappointment to me, but maybe this is what Danzig is normally like? I don't remember the album(s) I heard being like this though. Oh well.
