Ladies!? and gentlemen.

All of LZ1 was recorded using the Telecaster that Jeff Beck gave Jimmy after Page recommended him as Eric Clapton's replacement in the Yardbirds. Originally it was Olympic White as can be seen below:

Jimmy had a friend re-paint the top and add graphics. It was then used to record LZ1 and played on all shows prior to and in support of LZ1.

One night at a party Jimmy agreed to buy Joe Walsh's 1959 Les Paul. Around the same time he'd gotten his first Marshall amp. He's quoted as saying that once he plugged the LP into the Marshall, dimed the controls, and slammed an open E chord: BBBRANGGGGGGGGGGgggggggggg............, that was it. That tele was retired.

Re: The Danelectro

Started using one very early on because he loved how it sounded like a sitar when using non-standard tunings. First used it with Zep live when doing his Black Mountain (D-A-D-G-A-D) solo spot.

When they started working on Kashmir in 1974 which used a D-A-D-G-A-D tuning, it was a no brainer he'd use it for the song live. And he did for the hundreds of times Zep performed it. He also used it on In My Time of Dying.

TL;DR

Sorry a telecaster never came within a restraining order's distance of being any part of Kashmir.

*thanks the crowd, steps off lecturn, and proceeds to trip over the mic cable*
Telly = Television
