One thing that metalcore doesn't get praised for due to its bad reputation is that the good stuff has an immediacy that feels like musical warfare, with all of the massive artillery barrages, splayed intestines, and bayonets to the liver that that statement implies. Combining hardcore punk with metal riffs is bound to induce violence, and Maroon are absolutely violent and immediate as **** in a way that death metal, black metal, and thrash metal simply are not the majority of the time, even if Maroon are not a better band than the 1st rate of those genres. It's simply a result of the genre that immediacy rules. Jesus Christ this feels like the soundtrack to a violent stabbing.
