You don't think the immediate thought that it's a nuke at these times played into that decision? This will definitely be remembered for a while. Spacex has been leading up to their Mars ****, lots of people are out travelling to be able to see it, they're gonna finish their trip to tell their families about it in person and people will form memories around it, it's in late December so it will end up on every hastily made moments of 2017 list...from a PR/marketing perspective that's pretty genius.
