1 in 5 relationships in the UK start online. Half of British people have done online dating.
That's a lot of desperate people.
Times have changed. The internet is not like it was in 1995 and is a legitimate way to meet people. If you are single and want a relationship why not try online dating?

I'm old.

The point is, from what she said, Ped doesn't actually want a relationship at the moment; she's just doing this to assuage her mother's fears, which I think is the wrong way to go about it. Her mother worried she'd die alone, which indicates that she (her mother) wants Ped to find a partner with whom she can have a LTR. Sure, that may happen online, but if you're being kind of shamed or embarrassed or guilted into it, surely you're going to end up going for the wrong person just to "get someone"? I don't see that as being healthy but of course that's just my opinion. However it definitely isn't good to go online looking for someone when you don't really want to, and it makes you feel the wrong way. Ped is young, and beautiful, and she has more than enough time to find her soulmate at her own pace and in her own time. There's no need to rush it just because her mother is worried about her future.
That's how I see it, anyway.
