Fair point, but I guess the real question is does it stand the test of being popular outside of your own circle of friends and family? If strangers - and I mean strangers, not people you know casually or fanboy it to - can appreciate it, then yeah, you're probably justified. Otherwise it's just really self-praise and the praise of people who know you, which is really no measurement of its quality.
