I look at my desktop more than most do, probably.
1. When I'm writing music, I always minimize to the desktop when playing back the current page in OpenMPT. I do that in order to just sort of empty my head and stop thinking about the details when I listen. So that I can just space out and listen. I unavoidably end up associating the crap I write with whatever desktop wallpaper I had a the time.
2. Sometimes, when listening to new music, I go to the desktop so I don't judge the band on album covers or band photos. Instead of browsing around too. Just bring up the desktop, lean back and listen.
My wallpaper becomes a sort of weapon against distractions.
