Martial law is enacted when there is social upheaval or catastrophic events like Irma. Considering Fema is out of money and there are only so many national gaurd troops. Split between three states right now its actually your job to protect yourself, your property, and your kin if and when help shows up. Ok thats part of the reason people stock pile guns. Not just cause you're a crazy wingnut that hates big government. The real danger is people after you survive a natrual disaster. Looters, etc. Thats why its imperative to learn to defend yourself hand to hand or with weapons.
