Yeah, perhaps the thread title should be "why do we keep telling people their music sucks if we don't like it?" I know there are plenty of good reasons to hate certain music, or that we think there are anyway; I just don't get why people have to constantly tell people who like that music that their music is ****. I mean, to use Ped's example above, sure, you may hate those shows but I can guarantee you don't go fuming at people on TV forums about how they shouldn't watch them, do you?
Do you?

But mention a band 99% of people hate here that you happen to like (let's use Coldplay rather than the more obvious ones you all expect) and it's a full on ragefest, snarkfest or snootfest. Maybe something else ending in fest. And I don't quite understand why. So you don't like the band, and I do (maybe). So what? Why keep telling me they suck and that I, by extension, suck by liking or at least listening to them? And I don't just mean me: I don't give a **** what people think of my music taste. But this happens to other people too.
Kudos to Batty by the way for trying to turn this into the "Why don't you like beans?" thread. As it happens, I do like beans. But not peas. **** peas.
Oh, and yes, eternal thanks to GD for pulling up that Urban thread: I'm reading through it as I go and it's bloody hilarious.

I miss that guy.
