Spoiler for I don't actually expect you to read this, no worries:
Guardians II was a complete ****ing disastrous mess of a script. The plot made no sense and the pacing was terrible. James Gunn wrote a messy script and tried (apparently successfully) to patch up all the holes with cheap jokes. The characters bordered on self-parody. He completely shoehorned characters into the plot who had no need or business being there and serviced the story in no way (Karen Gillian, Michael Rooker, and for some reason Sylvester Stallone). The subplots of these characters had nothing to do with each other (the gold people, Nebula's relationship with Gamora, Rocket getting separated from the group) and the result was a mess of weak character arcs that he kind of just glossed over in the end. And ****ing Peter Quill's plot is the least inventive, most unrealistic aspect of the entire ****ing thing: It takes over half the film to even get to the inciting incident, and then the change in character happens for a reason that makes NO sense (why the **** are you telling him you killed his mom, that served NO purpose), and there's absolutely no conflict for Peter at all (You killed my mom? Oh well **** you then). And worst of all are the accolades bestowed upon a film that is frankly a sloppy and terrible construction.

And the end of HIMYM is a load of terrible writing as well. They spent an ENTIRE SEASON on a time period of THREE DAYS and filled 20 odd episodes with terribly-conceived filler plots, then undid the entire season (nay! Series!) in a space of 2-minutes: "So they got a divorce and then your mom died, can I bang your aunt?"

On top of that, Robin was an atrocious character who acted selfishly and without regard for anyone but herself the entire series long, and instead of repairing the viewer's relationship with her, they just told the viewer to accept it: Robin was terrible to Ted for 7 of the show's 10 years, but because HE loves her we're supposed to be happy for them both! No, she was a ****ty ****ing character and in the end we're supposed to feel sorry for her for ruining her own life? We're supposed to be rooting for her despite her being a huge bitch every step of the way?

I could also go on like this for Dexter, Heroes, Snowpiercer, Orange is the New Black, Hector and the Search for Happiness, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Hannibal, and literally anything that depicts a psychologist in it.

TV. Its serious business.
I was legitimately curious what you objected to about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 because I liked it and How I Met Your Mother because I had no idea how it ended and was never planning on sitting through multiple seasons of a show I didn't really like to find out.

I'm amazed you didn't like Snowpiercer though. I thought that movie was great.
