I'm sure this could have been sorted with one phone call, a letter, an email, and you chose not to do anything, instead wasting taxpayers' money by letting it go to court? Jesus man! When property tax was introduced here a few years back I got a letter telling me how much I owed. I immediately rang them and told them I was living in a council house, I did not own it, and therefore not being a homeowner was not liable for property tax. They said no problem, send it back, along with a rent receipt. End of problem.
Again, you are so lazy it's beyond ridiculous. If you'd had to pay for that court appearance I bet you wouldn't have been long about sorting it out.
