Major kudos to Alaska Airlines. Best rate we were finding for a round trip ticket with a bunch of stupid connections was $900 based on the short notice.
I've had an AA credit card and mileage plan for about ten years. Called them, explained the situation and they got her a non-stop flight both out and back from Boston, along with an aisle seat (which she prefers), for $360. She doesn't even have to present a death certificate.
The lady on the phone who we spoke with for over a half hour couldn't have been more helpful.
And everyone I spoke with back east this morning (family and friends) offered Linda a place to stay so she doesn't have to pay for a hotel.
