Not sure if anyone here remebers the sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati, but they did a pretty dark episode on the whole payola/cocaine thing where the station's top DJ got corrupted and went on a bad downward spiral while playing mostly disco (which he hated) because he was being bribed to by a major label.

No doubt there's a lot of great music that wasn't played on the radio then as now. That's commercial radio for you I guess. That's why, when I did listen to radio, I tended to stick to the college stations.
