Thanks. Here is my progression...
Oct 2012 - 4:43 (Disaster. No idea how to train and had major muscle cramping issues)
Oct 2013 - 3:56 (Followed training plan - 18 weeks w/one peak week of 40 miles)
Jun 2014 - 3:58 (same plan as the last)
Jun 2015 - 3:38 (18 weeks w/three peak weeks of 50 miles)
Oct 2015 - 3:17 (18 weeks starting at 52 and peaked at 70 for three weeks)
This week I hope do 42 miles with a speed day, a tempo run and a couple recovery runs mixed in then 8 miles at race pace on Sat. and a slow 18 on Sun. Unfortunately, I will also be traveling so it will be tough going. My initial goal for Boston was 3:15 but that will have to wait for a fall race. I have decided to just enjoy the experience and try to keep it under 4 hrs.
Good luck on the trail marathon. I ran with a group of trail runners last fall and had an absolute blast. It was a slower pace but it took more concentration and the miles seemed to fly by quickly.
A 50 miler is on my bucket list and a couple of friends are doing a trail 50 in the fall so I have a feeling that I'll be toeing the line with them. It will be nice to train in the summer again.
Strava is great. Feel free to follow me as well. This forum won't let me post links but here is my Strava id: 1428497
