The Not So Weekly Album Wrap Up (Christmas 2016 edition)
Starting things off with Feikn's only demo tape Visse Ting Som Hænder. Possibly the greatest thing I've heard out of delving into black metal since Weakling's album. Filled with these crazy melodic, yet dark, blackened guitar lines and vocals that go between harsh and manic to clean and almost feminine. Its short runtime goes toward its benefit as well; once ideas are presented the band doesn't decide to stretch them out to the point where they are uninteresting, but instead they move on to another riff or musical passage. The folk interludes are also worth mentioning, when the band goes through these folk sections it doesn't feel forced; in fact, it almost feels like a folk band decided to make black metal, but couldn't resist the temptation to show off their chops a little bit. Overall, it's an amazing demo tape that I highly recommend to everyone.

Alright so I know a few of you all wanted me to expand on my thoughts about this album, but the problem is I don't really have many. The album breezed by barely making an impression on me; I only remember that I was getting really really bored and thought the album went on maybe 25 minutes too long for it's own good. The opening track was great and so was Call To Tinkerton or whatever it's called, but beyond that I either can't remember literally anything and in some cases thought the album was just bad. The production is almost generic sounding sometimes and the lyrics are too cringe inducing too really take seriously. It's just an album that fails to meet my expectations of a good hip hop on any front. I really don't have any interest to go back and listen again either.

This is one Frown recommend me a week or so ago, and having heard his music a couple times I was really excited to hear it. I was not disappointed by any means. The lush beautiful textures are almost... dare I say it, vaporwave-esque, or at least incredibly influenced by hypnogogic pop music. The blending of these droned out pop sensibilities put through the filter or context of a noise album is really something to behold. There are twists and turns I never really expected the EP to make and I came out of it with anew EP of the year.

That's all for now. I may do a couple more for this week later on.
