I don't think Kanye is a bad lyricist. Just because his lyrics are not as intricate and complex as some doesn't mean they are bad. Kanye's lyrics still resonate with people. They might be simple but they are perfect for what he wants. If they were bad then he wouldn't have the fans. Many artists that write intricate super complex lyrics suffer from the fact that they can't write lyrics that are catchy and resonate with people. Kanye gets his point across effectively.
