Yeah but at the time Aerosmith was hot,
and lets not forget Puffy did that song 'Come With Me' with some well known guitarist(I don't knowhis name),
Nelly just did a song with that Country singer,
Snoop, Xibit and others just did the video for one of Korns tracks,
Travis from the now defunct Blink 182 has collaborated quite a bit with Hip Hop Artists especially Rappers, Pharrell for one,
Limp Biscuit(sp?) have collaborated with Eminem(before the beef) and Method Man, and have a DJ(forget his name), and employ breakers(breakdancers) for their Videos and shows,
lets not forget Linkin Park doing an ALBUM/DVD with Jay-Z and actually melding Rock and Hip Hop together.
Those are the ones that come to mind at the moment but there are plenty more.
Now I'm not saying all those collaborations were a good idea, I'm just pointing out the fact that what RunDMC did was before it's time and that's why people love them,
They were one of the first to really realise the potential of Hip Hop on a GLOBAL and ECONOMIC scale as oppose to just having block parties and being happy with being signed and the possibility of MAYBE going gold,
Some may argue that that's what contributed to Hip Hop losing it's innocence but it could be argued that it's part of the reason why so many people from the Ghetto are able to hustle legally and bring wealth and positivity back to it's community,
Hip Hop feeds a hell of a lot of people right now, through fashion, films, books, dance and movement, jewellery, alcohol, fruit drinks/water, cars, food, visual art, music etc, etc.
And the Beastie Boys are dope, REAL Hip Hop, surely everyone knows that?
