That was at first awkward but turned out well for both of them. She complimented his kids highly which seemed to genuinely touch him. First words out of his mouth were: I don't know if you meant that as a compliment but I'm going to take it as one. He in turn praised her for being very strong and never giving up on what she believes in. Completely broke the tension between them.
After the debate was over the candidates and their families mingled with the people on stage - who must have all been given disposable cameras for taking pictures.
Bill Clinton was clearly the star of all of it. It seemed like he always had a crowd around him intently listening to what he was saying. By contrast both Trump and Hillary found themselves with no-one a number of times. Trump and his posse left first and Hillary bailed about 5 minutes later. Bill stayed on stage for at least another 5-10 minutes listening and talking. As he was leaving he searched out the guy in the red shirt who asked about energy policies and based on my lip reading skills seemed to tell him "that was a great question". He spent some time with the guy and then left.
People love the dude in hindsight. Happens with all presidents. Obama's numbers are higher than they've been his entire second term because people are starting to really reflect on his legacy.
I highly doubt Trump's strategy of deflecting blame away from himself by making it all about Bill and Hillary and his sex scandals failed miserably.
