I believe music SHOULD be engaging, not so much an interaction. You cannot touch, move, or change the path that the audible waves will take. You merely experience it subjectively. Therefor, it should engage, or provoke emotion and thought. Not one or the other, but both simultaneously. THAT is what helps make good music. It doesn't need to be something that EVERYONE will enjoy. You can hop on the wagon and ride it if you like, but it will never feel as fulfilling as making something of your own, building your own character from the ground up. Indeed, this path, is far more complex to walk and you may snap your ankle traversing it from time to time, but it will heal, and you will learn along the way where not to step. I myself have decided this is the path to take. I'd rather provide quality music, apposed to a bunch of raps to the masses. I'd rather focus on bettering my craft as an artist, then gain popularity as a rapper.
