Because of the second definition is possible to criticize and not be entirely negative. When a person critiques something in the world of art, he weighs both the positive and negative aspects of what is being analyzed. The reviewer will draw a conclusion based from his point of view, it is an just opinion, and the person will often rate it. How it is rated will be on the spectrum of how much it is liked or disliked.
