Christine Lauterburg—AĆ«rope (2008)
Christine Lauterburg is a Swiss yodeler, violinist, and accordionist who has drawn on a lot of different influences during her career. This album is spare and junky and folksy, with the kind of traditionalism-meets-experimentalism aesthetic that makes you think Marc Ribot is about to show up at any moment. I don't think he does, but still it's that kind of album. It's a little reminiscent of Lhasa de Sela, but you know, with yodeling.
