Wikipedia said Chimaira was Nu Metal (early) and was a "notable" member of NWOAHM, in fact they coined the phrase. Discog has them as "groove metal/metalcore." I've seen them also described in metal-archives as "Modern Metal" as opposed to "Nu metal/ grove metal/ metalcore." The only nonmetal thing I noticed about them is that the keyboard player uses a Korg KP2 fx processor. Is the utilization of that device enough to warrant them as Nu metal? Is there enough association with Nu Metal to be considered part of the sub-genre? Or is Chimaira too controversial a pick for the the big four of Nu metal?
