Here we tend to shorten any word that's longer than a simple grunt. An electrician gets called a 'sparky', a brick layer a 'bricky', and so on. In the outback an entire sentence tends to get compressed into a single word. So 'Good day mate how are you going' becomes 'gdaymatehowyagoin'. This should be pronounced so that all the words are slurred together, like one long diphthong.
