Like Frownland I've also read the bible on my own initiative in my late teens. Lots of good life lessons and stuff mixed in with a lot of cruelty, misogyny, vanity, megalomania, and vile characters, including the God of the old testment.

Hell, you worship a deity who screwed up his first experiment, pouted about it, and then wiped out a bunch of innocent animals and people with a flood so he could have a do over? Ok.
