Whiles back I talked about building a custom cat corner/litter box. Even the large litter boxes at the store seem cramped to me, and I'd prefer it that my cat poop in luxury. I had a concept in mind, using some sort of hard exterior, such as wood, and incorporating Plexiglass on top of that and then figuring out how I was going to seal everything. Although I have yet to build a litter box, I have at least built the next-best thing.

Ever gone into a pet store and taken a look at their food bowls? The selection is paltry to say the least, and I happen to have a cat that likes to play stupid cat tricks with his food bowl for whatever reason. In doing so, he drags the bowl on the floor, and it's one of the most irritating sounds ever. A ceramic bowl would've made no difference.

Solutions...

Picked up a wood block and Plexiglass panel from Lowe's. Lowe's was able to trim the Plexiglass to form. That's $28.04 in materials, which is a bit pricey, but I don't have wood blocks or Plexiglass just sitting around. I did, however, have some screws that I saved over the years from putting together those store-bought DIY furniture pieces. So I just used those to screw the Plexiglass to the wood and the bowls thereafter.

Nothin's gonna move now, and the Plexiglass will serve three functions: (1) prevent water from seeping into the wood, (2) prevent my cat from getting splinters from scratching at the wood block for no reason and (3) it's easy clean of any water spills.
