I don't think you need an excellent computer or sound card for that.
Mine is not bad, but certainly not a high end computer and not in any way optimized for playing music.
I'm not a keyboard player, but I do use a small midi keyboard sometimes.
I use it with the Programm FL Studio and the ASIO4all sound driver. With the help of this driver I can play without any noticeable delay.
