Arena Rock

1. Toto - IV
2. Journey – Escape or Frontiers
3. Boston – Boston
4. Styx – The Grand Illusion
5. Strangeways – Native Sons
6. Def Leppard – Hysteria
7. Meat Loaf – Bat Out of Hell
8. Rush – Moving Pictures
9. Foreigner – 4
10. Asia - Asia

I added Asia just in case we decide to leave the current list as is.
I really think you're cocking this up and mixing these loose genre terms too much.

There's no way you can have Strangeways, Rush and Def Leppard in the same cat, why not add Genesis and Europe as well The way you are cutting and cropping these lists will leave these cats so jumbled.

Just think-

AOR: American (mostly) west coast rock: Just think Toto and Journey and the whole host of bands not from California like Survivor etc who despite coming from Chicago still had that California rock sound. Draw in bands like Foreigner and REO etc with their own styles and you've got a genre.

Arena: Much looser and harder to define and primarily any band that could fill out stadiums, but as that would just about include anybody in the 1970s and 1980s, was normally used for big selling bands that streamlined their sound for arenas with more commercial style songs. Perfect examples Fleetwood Mac, Supertramp, Genesis, Queen and Asia who actually formed primarily to fill out stadiums etc and in the 1980s this started to include more metal orientated bands like Def Leppard, Van Halen hell you could even call Iron Maiden arena rock as well.

To confuse you more a lot of the AOR bands could equally be called arena and bands like Boston and Styx equally comfortable in both cats.

Therefore better to do 1) prime era AOR late 70's to mid 80's list 2) classic arena rock from the 70s 3) classic arena rock from the 80s. If you eliminate any metal bands that will make your job easier but you could squeeze some borderline albums like Hysteria in.

I don't mind doing a new top 10 AOR list for you and leave you and JG to do arena.
