4. If you come off as an elitist prick, the rest of the forum members are going to be elitist pricks toward you.
- do not make posts such as;
Quote:
punk sucks. its nothing but three chord riffs and whining about how the government sucks.

^that post would make you look like an a
ss. first of all, you would be classifying an entire genre, a very large genre, by a few of the bands that identify under that genre.
5. read the *Education* threads. one of the biggest mistakes a newbie can make that will get (him/her)self flamed is to misclassify a band. especially the bands that take on the image of a genre but are infact poppy mainstream.
-green day (although their older albums somewhat fit the genre of pop punk) is not a punk band. along with good charlotte, fallout boy, etc.
-my chemical romance, the used, etc..are not emo.
-do not classify the genre known as "emo" by the trend that has become ever so popular lately. that is a fashion trend that many bands have used as a stepping stool to get themselves noticed. bands such as hawthorne heights. true emo is not what the media portrays it as. most real emo bands are not very well known by the people who watch MTV as a source of music.
6. dont intentionally start petty arguments and try to shut down or out witt the members that take your bait. this will get you known as a spammer from early on, and thats not something you want happening. in many cases the members that argue with you (assuming the argument is about a musical genre, for example) will know more about the genre than you. dont take this as a bad thing. it is an opportunity to learn, and to expand your musical knowledge.
