Tin Hat - The Sad Machinery of Spring
Ok, ok bare with me but, I really went some place I don't even
know listening to this album. It might not make sense and just
sound like psycho babble but, I just couldn't stop.
1. Old World
You know those movies that are set in the future? Like after
say maybe, the apocalypse? That's kind of what this makes me
think of. Sweet sinister music that walks you through a tragedy.
Not sinister in the sence of evil but, in the sense of taking
you down a path where there's millions of homeless. Technology
has been destroyed and there's little hope left. Part of that
may already be true. They music is sinsterly beautiful.

2. The Secret Fluid of Dusk
Wonderful acoustics and cello? Some other string instrument.
I've already started to create this post apocalyptic world.
There's a child gathering dirty water to later be filtered. It
might be poisionous from the toxins. But, he/she sees it as a
fun game because, in this world there's no computers or maybe
even few books or games to entertain oneself. The children do
their best to enjoy their life as it is but, they wouldn't know
different anyway.

3. Blind Paper Dragon
Love this opening. There's creatures made from water too. They
mutated from something over years of pollution and new
discoveries. Sometimes the water people are hunted but, they
are protected by monsters the humans call paper dragons. They
aren't actually made of paper though. They just have thin
paper like scales.

4. Dionysus
There's a young water hunter. He's stalking one of the water
creatures. They move in a funny way. They kind of just sloosh
around. He's a silly little thing. He might even be as young as
the hunter. And just as the hunter raised his extraction device
he sees more water creatures. The embrace. There's small ones
ones that seem like elders that move in more poise. He can't
bring himself to do anything.

5. Daisy Bell
Ring, ring the bell of the little girl's bike goes. It's all
half broken. She doesn't mind though. Her nickname is Daisy
because, she likes to collect flowers. People try not to mind
even though flowers are really rare. They'll most likely die
off anyway. The vocals on this track are wonderful. The track
itself is. It's a really nice twist on a classic.

6. Drawing Lessons
The young hunter never wanted to be a hunter in the first place
his father was one. He hated his father. A muscle bound man
that did nothing but, drink cheaply made faux booze that were
more like drugs. He wanted to create things. Unheard of how
would he survive? No one wants to trade for useless are in this
day and age. Still the boy would sneak off at night to spy in
the tin hut of a woman who often sketched on rocks. She would
every night. By the light of the toxic purple sky. In her roofless hut.
He would daydream about some day doing the same.

7. The Book
His father in a rage found the boy's journal. If you could call
it that. It was basically an old book with writing between the
lines that were already in it. Full of liquid poison he yelled
at the boy. How disappointed he was. How stupid he was to think
he would do anything with such a dream of being an artist.

8. Dead Season
Daisy hates winter. Nothing grows. She's tried to make all
sorts of plants grow in the winter but, they just won't. She
doesn't worry about the fact there's little to no food or water.
all she wants to do is see new and different plants. In despair
she walks along a narrow path. She sees a boy running through
the broken down little buildings all made of parts of buildings
that used to exist at one time. He has a book in his hands. She
decides to try and run after him.

9. Black Thursday
She catches up with the boy who is huddled in his knees crying.
There are bruises on his tear soaked face and his legs. He
notices her and quickly pulls knife from his sheath surprised
by her presence.

10. The Tailor's Dummies
It starts to snow but, that isn't a good thing here. The snow
is toxic just like the sky. It's more like toxic ash that the
beautiful white treasure we once knew. They both know they need
to seek shelter most likely underground. They decide to trust
each other and head out twords the caves it's only a few
seconds away luckily. Though, the caves most likely have paper
dragons in them at this time. The water creatures aren't at all
bothered by any elements. They constantly stay liquid and pure.
The go inside the cave and talk for a little while.

11. Dionysus II
The cave is dark, it's hard to see anything if you go in deeper
there are little crystals that reflect the light from outside
but, not if you go in deep. So they decide to stop before it
gets too dark.

12. The Land of Perpetual Sleep
Little creatures they don't know the names of
slither and dance and move through the cave. They aren't
harmful at all so no one decided to pay them any mind. They're
just as silly as all the other creatures. Sometimes they will
jump off your shoulder or throw a small pebble. They boy, who
is inspired by them decides to pick up a rock and start to
sketch upon the cave walls. He didn't tell Daisy anything about
what had happened, about his dreams. Instead subconciously he
decided to show her. She feels less awkward, less afraid of
the surroundings. She watches in awe as he effortlessly
sketches out the cave creatures.

13. Janissary Band
And just as the two are laughing and having a good time a paper
dragon appears. Both of their jaws drop. He's bigger than the
usual ones they see. Something is different though. He seems to
be moving in a different way. He sits like a cat sitting up and
looks at the children. They look back in horror and just as the
two turn to scream and run. He laughs. Hahaha. Hahaha. His
laughter is so loud it echos and shakes the cave. He opens up
his clawed hand and a morphus blob of water is inside of it.

14. The Comet
The two look on in shock and atonishment as the dragon throws
water ball after water ball into the air and they explode into
something like raindrops. They feel clean on the children's
naked skin. It feels so pure. Then, as they close their eyes a
strange light glows they can tell that there is something there
quickly opening their eyes. The creatures are glowing. The
small uknown ones. The paper dragons. Even some water creatures
come out to join all glowing brilliant multiple colors like the
rays of comets. They all share the gift the paper dragon has
provided and drink in the clean water. It feels like bliss. No
dirty filtered liquid they're used to. It's just a time to be
happy. To rejoice.

15. Intractable
Years pass Daisy and the artist are nearly adults now. Long
ago they brought water, clean water back home and told people
of how the creatures meant them no harm in the first place.
But, when the people went to hunt the creatures and harvest the
water there was nothing there. And nothing changed. Still Daisy
and the artist would go to the cave alone to see if one day the
creatures would come back. They had all fled sick of having to
run away in fear. Maybe, one day Daisy and the artist can
teach a new generation better ways.

Over all the album took me on a wild journey. I hope you
enjoy sharing it with me. I know it's a story but, that's kind
of just want happened so I stuck with it.
4.5 stars for this album over all.
I was really nervous to post this but, here it is.
