It's the way things are sadly. When something like this happens it's a shame the first thing on the minds of many is "this will get a lot of retweets on Twitter' or 'this will get lots of views on Youtube'. Doing something to try and help the person in trouble seems to be the last thing on their minds. It would appear that social media has become more important than real life for some, and apparently even more important than other people's lives.

I remember when the Smiler crashed and the riders were trapped on it, I think the girl who lost a leg was shouting at people to stop taking pics.
