Title: Vexillology
Artiste: Deadmau5
Genre: Progressive House/Techno
Familiarity: Zero, though I have heard of him
1. 1981: This seems to be, for about four minutes anyway, a thumping drumbeat, bass and some vocoder work. Is it building up to something or is this it? The song is nearly seven minutes long, so maybe. No, it's pretty much the same all the way to the end. Meh.
2. Bounce: This, on the other hand, is nothing but percussion for the entire song, with a few pads or something hit along the way. Yawn.
3. Dr. Funkenstein: Pretty much the same apart from a few swirling synths and him singing the title (well, speaking it really). So bored now, and still seven tracks to go!
4. Fustercluck: This is more percussion with samples
5. Lai: Running out of things I can say about this. Sort of a belching synth or bass, more percussion and nothing much else.
6. Orca: See, this is all sounding pretty much the same to me. Nothing to catch my hook on.
Beat-beat-beat-thump-squawk-beat-beat-beat, rinse and repeat.
7. Plus: Yeah, more of the same. This is so fu
cking boring!
8. Apply overnight: Y is for Yawn.
9. TL7: Dear God! Make. It. Stop!!!!
10. Trepid:Four minutes ... three. Two ... one now ... last few seconds ... oh thank the metal gods!
End result: One of the most pointless albums I've listened to in a long time. Maybe it's good to dance to, maybe you have to be out of your head to enjoy it, or into this style of music, but I hated just about every minute. If that's what they call progressive house, you can keep it. (Note for future use in The Torture Chamber, guys!)
So, Love or Hate? No surprise then, that this is the first
Hate in quite a while.
