Default Metal Showdown (Round 2) - Marilyn Manson vs Korn

In the previous round, Manson just barely beat out Slipknot 6-4: http://www.musicbanter.com/rock-meta...yn-manson.html

Now with that all said and done, Manson will be facing off with another band who rose to fame during the same time period as him, and that is none other than Korn.

Korn

I know Korn and other nu-metal bands don't get much love around here, but they are still part of the genre, and say what you will about Jonathan David and his band, but their first few records still hit raw and heavy even today, especially their debut all the way through 2002's Untouchables.

They had a dark, down tuned sound on their guitars that was fresh and new at the time, and even the hip hop element gave them a sound that set them apart.

Even today, they're still fairly experimental, despite most people having forgotten that they still exist as well as the fact that Jonathan Davis has sort of turned into the nu-metal version of Ted Nugent, albeit less vulgar and offensive.

They're working on a new record that they promise will return them to their heavier days, but every rock band that's been around for over a decade promises such things, so we'll see. As for now, they have Manson to worry about in this fight.

Marilyn Manson

Manson has a go at a second round, and I already said in the previous round everything I wanted to say about him, so good luck to the self-proclaimed God of ****.

As for me, I'm gonna have to with Korn this time. Not only are they more musically consistent with their quality over time, but they are also a lot more experiment as of late than Manson has been. Manson is past the point of ever returning to his heavier and more edgy days and is fairly boring these days, whereas Korn still manages to muster enough energy in their recent output that a heavy record isn't too unbelievable.
