it depends...

to me, a talented lyricist is a rapper that draws attention towards the lyrics of the song.

they might do this through doing some lyrical acrobatics, trying to make the rhymes as complex as possible

or through punchlines and the kinds of hat tricks that a lot of underground rappers focus on

but you can also be a talented lyricist by saying something real or something poetic. it doesn't have to be complicated, just evocative. telling stories is another way to be lyrical.



i'd say i'll take the lyrics on this song over 99% of show-off underground guys like canibus throwing around a bunch of big words and pseudo-scientific bull****

but hey that's just me
