Vandal hearts is a tactical rpg along the lines of Ogre battle or of FF tactics and the story it's just as trite as the ones in those games. Some evil empire is taking over the world and you have to stop them. It seems every tactical rpg is about that same sh*t, i just started the game but i already know what is gonna be all about, it's gonna be about the politics and drama of that evil empire.
On the first scene of the game they establish your MC is a peasant knight and they show the evil empire burning down a village for harboring a fugitive. Maybe ive played too many tactical rpgs cause this story is too damn familiar and formulaic, it feels like the company that made this game saw the success of FF tactics and said : "Let's just do that."
The Tactic rpg is a great genre but the last innovation on it was Fire emblem. We need new games in that genre that break the mold and revitalise it.
