However, on folk music, I think that it's too vague of a term to really have a beginning or end. Americana folk music is going to be vastly different from Vietnamese folk music. In a way, you could say that most artists who are clearly passionate about their music make folk music since they are a product of their time whether they like it or not.
Even if you don't take such a liberal definition with folk music, a lot of the alternative music (lol at the genre name btw) have very prominent folk roots from what I've heard (even if the ringleaders suck some serious ass).

Gonna have to disagree and say that NIN is actually indeed industrial. As far as american industrial music goes, they're a predominant part of it, among bands like Ministry and others. I've heard much purer industrial of course, and I am not saying NIN is the hardest industrial or the best example of it, but they're indeed an industrial band. If you were to bring up NIN recent three releases however, I'd say that leans much closer to heavy synth or electronic than anything else. Do I got those terms right? Brain is telling me I may be thinking of two different things...
Anyway. Getting off of my NIN tirade now.
I dig Chvrches something fierce. I didn't expect to like them as much as I do, but...I do, and I find some things about their music actually refreshing too.
This is a track I really dig so far.
And I am having trouble calling Chvrches a pure or true Pop outfit. They've got a lot of different sounds and influences on their album that has been out. And I find their music to be leagues or bounds better than TONS of 'Pop' that's out there. I'm sure there are better Pop outfits than Chvrches, but right now, they're my favorite.
