Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Something i'm starting to notice time and time again is if the word "Bethesda" is anywhere near the title of a game, be it a publisher or the creator, it's an instant love for me. I've been playing a lot of games of that nature like Dishonored and Fallout, and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is seriously no different in how quickly i've immersed into the story and gameplay. I won't go too much into the story because you can do a simple Google search and find it, but what I do want to say is how much i'm enjoying the overall feel of the game and how much fun i'm having from the first minute I started playing. From what I've noticed, much like Dishonored, there are two ways you can play through the game. You can be stealthy and be as quiet as possible and knife people to death, or you can just go all out and immerse yourself into the combat. Both strategies seem to work really well and the game doesn't really favor one or the other. It gives good opportunity for both, though i've noticed that combat is a much easier time because of the weapon choices, but again, combat is always easier because you're not trying to be quiet or listen to footsteps. I'll obviously try to do two play throughs with both play style as i've done with Dishonored. According to what i've read, this game is actually a standalone prequel, which is nice, because I wasn't entirely sure I wanted to dish out $59.99 for Wolfenstein: The New Order but from what i've heard, if I like this one, i'll like the other, so i'll end up purchasing it anyway when I come around to beating The Old Blood. I don't know if it's only me, but the voice for the main character seems to be a little bit "Duke Nukem"-esque. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but whenever he talks, it just comes off a little goofy. However, with everything else being done right with how you control the main character and the weapons you can find, the voice acting is just a tiny little gripe that I have. Graphically of course, the game could be better, but it could definitely be much worse. I do find some little weird graphical glitches happening time and time again...for example:

Fortunately, these things seem to just happen every now and again, but it never really makes the game unplayable, which is nice. Overall, it's still a fun experience to be able to see everything on Ultra settings, even if the graphics don't hold up. Again, just a small gripe. It doesn't make me enjoy the game any less than I am currently. At the end of the day, i'm really having a good time with this game, and i'm very happy I found this on sale because I probably would have looked past it and wouldn't have given it a chance. Now, for the time being, i'm off to kill some more Nazis that seem to have made their way into Castle Wolfenstein, we can't have that can we?
