Eagles - Long Road Out Of Eden

So, i'm curious, did you send me this album thinking I may hate it? Or do you know that I secretly love The Eagles? Contrary to popular opinion, i'm a pretty big fan of The Eagles, and this album is certainly no exception. Just like the Britney Spears album, I think i've only heard a few tracks from this before, but never sat down and listened to the whole album before. It's not bad, I didn't really find myself skipping any tracks like I usually do with Eagles albums, and that's usually due to the fact that the tracks tend to drag on too long, this one doesn't really have that problem. The only problem I have with it, is that it is way too long, hence I see why they had to make it a double disc, but i'm never a huge fan of double discs.
Trackwise, there are a few tracks that stuck out, in a good way, "How Long" being one of the few songs that I recognise. It's certainly not the best song they've ever written, but it's catchy, and I've always thought The Eagles were catchy. "Guilty of the Crime" is fantastic as well. I like the hard rock feel it has to it while still maintaining that country-rock feel that The Eagles are known for. But like I said before, with as many tracks as this album has, it may need a few more listens for me to find more tracks that stick out to me. The nice thing is, I may revisit this album again if it ever comes to it.
As far as the band members are concerned, they sound just as good if not better than ever. This albums production quality is fantastic, and everyone sounds like they're having a good time. Whether or not that's true is yet to be known to me. But, it's nice to see The Eagles put something out and have it be almost as good as their older records. I would say they definitely went with more of a country-pop theme with this album and sort of stepped back from the country-rock theme that they tend to have, which isn't really a bad thing. It made the album extremely catchy and fun to listen to.
Final verdict: This is not bad at all. I think in terms of my favorite Eagles albums, this goes in my top 5 right now. Desperado still holds that number one spot, but this has potential to really grow on me. Like I mentioned before, my only negative feedback is that it's way too long. Honestly, I think this album would have been perfect with just the one side with 11 tracks, but unfortunately it kind of gets stale with it having another side to it with 9 more tracks, that just seems a bit over the top to me. However, the title track "Long Road Out Of Eden" could have been a final track on the first side, and I would've been perfectly fine with that. All in all, not terrible, it was enjoyable for the most part.
