i honestly am inclined to think the ceo is genuine in his convictions. think about the fact that they have never opened on sundays. this is something that went on for years before the whole anti-gay spiel came about. think about all the money they must lose from that policy over the years. to act like the rich/elite are above having any sort of ideals/principles and everything is some clever machiavellian type of maneuver for power and money is to give them more credit than they really deserve, imo

There's no reason why it can't be both. Why not just make a fun little Twitter post if that's how the ceo feels instead of declaring it for the whole company? Their profits made a massive spike as anyone who knows the power of bigotry could have easily predicted. The CEO is still a businessman and I find it hard to believe that anything like this could be genuine and lack an ulterior motive.
