Just heard about this on NPR, and apparently this town is a major ISIS hub for bringing in foreign fighters from Turkey, Europe, and all over the world, along with bringing in supplies and sending out oil. It's also within spitting distance of Raqqa, ISIS' capital in Syria. So this is big ****.
But my real reason for posting this, is that I ♥ the Kurds. They were the most effective and badass fighters in Iraq, when our US-trained Iraqi soldiers were either deserting or just being useless in general, and now they're beating ISIS like a redheaded step-child? **** the Arabs, let's just give the Middle East to the Kurds, and then watch let them lock that **** down in a week.
Ahmadinejad wants to cause trouble? I think the Kurds might have something to say about that. Problem solved.
And as far as I know, they've never been bombed by the Israelis, so if we can have them both make nice, we can sit back and watch the new Kurdish Empire usher in a new Golden Age in the Middle East.
